Willowdene School

Project Introduction

The Daniel Watney Planning Team secured planning permission in April 2023 for the expansion of Willow Dene School’s Oakmere Road campus in Plumstead. The extension will provide a dedicated sixth-form provision for some of Greenwich’s most vulnerable young people. This enlargement will allow the school to expand its provision for children with special educational needs.

Our Role

The scheme will be delivered using a MMC approach to minimise on-site disruption and allow for the sixth-form provision to be operational in 2023. Daniel Watney Planning worked collaboratively with the Royal Borough of Greenwich Capital Projects and Planning Departments and contractor Wernick Group Limited to design a high-quality scheme that sits perfectly in the townscape and respects the original school building.

Daniel Watney has worked with Greenwich Council since 2020 to find an appropriate location for expansion across the two heavily constrained Willow Dene sites. This expansion will allow the amazing Willow Dene School to widen its provision to include on-site sixth-form accommodation for young people with special educational needs.
