As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8th, we take a moment to reflect on the proud 160+ year history of the firm and the inspirational women who have been part of that journey:
Looking forward, we are proud of the firm we are today. With a near 50/50 gender balance (47% female), including 32% in senior management and 25% in leadership roles, International Women’s Day serves as an important moment to reflect on what more we can do to ensure a fair and equitable career path within our partnership.
Debbie Warwick, LLP member, Head of Rating and Honorary Secretary of the Rating Surveyor’s Association talks about her experience:
“As I reflect on the progress made in the real estate industry since I first started work, it’s clear we’ve come a long way, but there is still much work to be done. I’ve witnessed the significant shift towards more open conversations about diversity and inclusion, but socio-economic equality must remain at the forefront of our efforts. It’s not enough to simply open doors - it's about ensuring that every person, regardless of background, has an equal opportunity to sit at the table. The future of our industry and society depends on our ability to break down barriers and create truly equitable opportunities for all. I’m incredibly proud of the business we are today, and the role I’ve had in shaping it. I’m surrounded by some of the brightest female minds from Partner through to Graduate, and I look forward to seeing their careers go on further. Any part I have to play in that I’m appreciative of and, I hope, will always be a voice to champion and support.”
Charlotte Goodrum, Planning Partner and Sponsor of the firm’s DE&I Committee said:
“Having navigated two maternity leaves while working in an industry that often blurs the line between work and personal life, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges women face in balancing both. Our progress in creating a more inclusive and supportive environment is encouraging, but the journey is far from over. As Sponsor of our DE&I Committee, I’m committed to advocating for policies and practices that provide women with the flexibility and support they need to thrive, both professionally and personally. We must ensure that women (and men) are empowered to pursue their careers without compromising their well-being or family life. True equality in the workplace means we stop asking women to choose between success and family, and instead, we make both possible.”
